It's D2, even a hamster on a wheel could power Diablo II, so don't worry about your integrated graphics not handling the insane, Far Cry-esque tax-your-entire-system-till-it-blows-up-cause-the-graphics-are-so-fucking-beautiful-ness of D2. To put it another way, are you experiencing the issue on a laptop with an 'external' (derp, I know it's inside the laptop) GPU card, aka you have integrated Intel HD 4000 on the motherboard, and a Geforce 640M that is much better?)įorce D2 to use integrated graphics. Using Laptop with Optimus card, by chance? TL DR: Diablo II works fine with Patch 1.14b on Windows 10 but gives me a CD-Drive error after patching to 1.14d although there was no CD but the downloaded Installer used. I tried googling since yesterday and also opened a ticket with the blizzard support but nothing I tried (compatibility mode Win XP SP2/3 and Win 7, run as Admin, add -w to shortcut, installing to a different directory) helped, that's why I'm counting on you guys. Next, I tried to install via the official Blizzard download and here things get really strange because I keep on getting the error that the cd is missing but this shouldn't really be a problem when using the installer.Īlso it's worth mentioning that I can start the game with patch 1.14b (installer) but get the error with 1.14d (manually patched and via B.net). Still, the same error although the disc was still in the cd-drive. I thought that maybe something went wrong after the upgrade so I just reinstalled the game via disc. After the upgrade to Win 10 D2 won't run anymore because I get a CD-Drive error telling me I need to insert the disc. I had D2 installed on Win 7 and everything was fine. Will Blizzard take notice of this drop-off of players for World of Warcraft and rectify the situation without damaging the monumental player retention that Diablo 4's been grabbing? Only time will tell if Blizzard can pull it off, otherwise, it may continue to suffer from Diablo 4's success.Last updated at 14:00:17 UTC Weekly Help Desk RAGE Loot Thread Trade Thread The timing, however, seems to align very suspiciously with Diablo 4's early access and launch periods. There are other factors that may be contributing to the drop off in World of Warcraft Mythic+ dungeon run sessions, including some unpopular new "affixes" that inject difficulty, alongside the selection of dungeons Blizzard chose for this season. The shift to a Battle Pass-like model, which has time limits on acquirable content, could further impact franchises, as players simply run out of time to access every piece of content being offered. Diablo 4's service game model may continue to cannibalize some of Blizzard's other games, including both Overwatch and Hearthstone on top. However, given the timing of events, it is fair to assume that Diablo 4 has performed so well, it may have had the unfortunate side-effect of cannibalizing a large chunk of World of Warcraft's player base. Historically, World of Warcraft expansions do lose players over the course of their lifespan. As you can see from this graph, there was a huge drop off in activity, with almost a million fewer mythic plus runs being done by week 6 of the season. The red line shows the number of dungeon runs during Season 1 and the yellow line shows the number of players during Season 2. Over the past few weeks, World of Warcraft, Blizzard Entertainment's juggernaut MMORPG has seen a steady decline in its player base, owing to an analysis of activity on WoW's APIs. Diablo 4 is the latest and biggest entry of Blizzard's action-RPG, dungeon crawler franchise - Diablo. The timing of the drop-off seems to coincide with the launch of Diablo 4, Blizzard's biggest hit of the year so far.Blizzard Entertainment's flagship MMORPG, World of Warcraft, has seen a drop off in player activity past few weeks.
